Day 16: Prague - Dresden - Berlin

Cannot believe we woke up to glorious sunshine on the day we were leaving Prague, we were so unlucky with the weather. Next stop was Dresden! We needed somewhere to stop to have lunch and stretch our legs but never knew the treat that was in store for us. Old Town Dresden was stunning, and we even managed to grab an on-street disabled parking space for free. The sun was partially out and we were all happy to explore a beautiful surprise city, David had a tradition something-würst hot dog and I stole a bite or two- yum! Access was really good, lots of dropped curbs but a fair few cobbles too. Would love to return here, Dresden was lovely.

On to Berlin, and if I'm honest it wasn't somewhere I had expected to fall in love with. How wrong I was! We explore Mitte (center) on arrival and visited the Berlin Wall memorial park which was quite moving but not in any way miserable or depressing. It was strange to think that the two seconds it took us to cross the border, hundreds of people died trying to do.

Access everywhere is fantastic. Everywhere has dropped curbs, even where there are road works we found temporary Tarmac ramps- this city is awesome and I can't wait to explore more tomorrow! Our hotel is really central, Ramada Berlin Mitte. The room is a disabled triple so I suppose they put the extra bed in where the turning space for wheelchairs would go but it's still a good room. The hoist works fine though the carpet is quite thick, and the bathroom is fairly small for an accessible room. So happy we are here, we had a great dinner at a local restaurant, I had currywürst sausages with coleslaw and fries (I'm starting to miss fresh veg and home cooking...!), but I think I'm in love. Berlin is so vibrant! Love Tori xx
